Oh nothing much. Just accessing a credit card sized computer 150 miles away with the entirety of the Bitcoin blockchain on it over a mesh VPN while going 80 mph. I just think that’s pretty damn cool.

Excellent!
Expand on "mesh vpn" plz
Bro I just had a whole book written out virtually and Damus crashed. Just look up Tailscale. For me it was a better alternative (on the usability front) than Tor to connect to my node remotely, now I just use it all the damn time. Basically you’re making a new network that you can access from anywhere via VPN even if those devices aren’t on the same local network. It is… the tits.
Can Nostr NIPS be used to build something like Tails?
Hm. Not sure of what implementations would be possible. Tailscale solves a LAN issue (to a degree) and Nostr is built to work almost opposite of that, wirelessly and globally accessible relays.
I do know that I have used Tailscale to directly connect to my personal relay on my Umbrel, but that’s the only thing I can think of at the moment. Also might be smooth brain.
There’s an open source version they maintain called headscale so I was wondering if Nostr relay network could be used for discovery and key verification / encryption… built in WireGuard…
I guess I’m shooting my mouth off because I definitely do not possess the chops to build something cryptographically secure…
I need to do a deeper dive in WireGuard all together, that would be a good start point I think.
Ahh ok. I ended up reading tailscale's docs about mesh probably while you were typing your post. 😁 I just set up Wireguard (new versions of nix-bitcoin make it easy and declarative), so I definitely understand the difference in latency between it and tor.
Man Tor was what made me stop using Lightning. Granted we were in a minimal fee on chain market so it wasn’t that bad. But once I was able to real time just got on my node… Oh baby. Fire was re-lit.
I guess this means Bitcoin operates as fast as you can you can go!
