People don't understand how powerful web apps can be. PWAs are criminally underutilized and underestimated territory. People just think "oh I need to build an app" because that's what people have done to disrupt and strike it rich since the App Store in 2008.

Don't get me wrong. I wholeheartedly support Damus and other Nostr and Bitcoin apps. But generally speaking, if we want freedom we aren't going to get it from an app store overlord, but that's ok because the web is powerful and robust and people just need to realize they can use it without permission.

Websites can utilize most phone sensors, spawn background processes to offload work, run assembly compiled down from Rust or TypeScript, run full 3D animation via WebGL and WebGPU (or use GPU hardware for mining/calculations), install to your phone as an app, run persistent workers, use push notifications, store unlimited local data in IndexedDB, and interface with Bluetooth and USB devices. AND MORE!
