The Levadas are artificially created watercourses that were created in the 15th century and still run through Madeira today. The traditional paths along the levadas are considered an absolute highlight among hikers. Don't miss the opportunity to follow the stone watercourses and discover waterfalls, laurel forests and unique landscapes. In particular, the 12 kilometer long route of the Levada das 25 Fontes in the southwest of the island takes you from the Paúl da Serra plateau via the Laurisilva laurel forest to the breathtaking Rabaçal nature reserve and offers you a fantastic insight into the region's unique nature.
