The argument that social media and pornography access is detrimental for children is undeniable.

The only effective counter (besides "it's the parent's responsibility") is some type of zero knowledge cryptographic solution.

Algorithmic social media is probably bad, it can be easily used to manipulate behaviors. what is our adolescence but a discovery phase where we branch out searching for ideas that resonate.

The speed of information exchange increases with time. This process allows us to quickly build on the success of others. It's not something we should limit we should embrace it as we always have eventually. I'm sure at the time of the printing press there were people who would argue children should not be allowed to read. With all the same bad actors at play.

This is another power grab disguised as over mothering which on it's own is incredibly destructive. A ban is ridiculous logic. Humans aren't stupid give them the tools explain the dangers, educate don't limit entire future generations.

Hard to imagine being able to achieve what we have without access to the unrestricted internet.

There is no logical argument for this kind of ban, when you dig in there's only harm. On the surface it's a difficult topic to talk about this is why so many groups are taking advantage. The usual coercive forces religions and governments with low information parents eager to follow. The collectivist collectivizing harm for their own benefit. Stealing from humanity's future.

All government controls distort reality, this will be no different.

My point is that the "protect the children" arugument is winning. I have the same concerns about the true intentions (control).

Therefore, we need technical solutions that enable restricted access for children while maintaining privacy for everyone else.

This could be done with ZK cryptography.

I think all necessary solutions already exist for parents to filter content at their own discretion. Even a simple dns filter. In the end it's only the parents that can know whether or not their children are ready.

Plenty of thirty year old children that are unable to handle social media. It's not logical or possible to make everything illegal so the only other option encourage/incentivize self control.
