i get a text this morning from my newest staff member saying her car is broke down and can't come to work

i say that i will send an uber to get her

she then says that she was actually making up an excuse to not come to work because she feels that being told how to do things by our standards is a ruin for her mental health

i say i don't employ liars

i literally have hired and fired over 120 people in the past five years

they have the qualifications, pass the training regime, then can't be held accountable for small improvements over the next month

young people cannot handle reality, they make up the craziest stories and blame everything on anyone but their own actions

i can't expand, do creative things, change or improve because i can't find anyone besides a few people who are sane to help me

What do you need help with and how much do you pay?

This is an entry level cashier position.

Pay?

Better than McDonalds

You sure about that? 😂 Idk man. I work on the manufacturing business and I see the same shit. People just have worthless work ethic ls now.

Yes the pay is better but i tend to think that the money honestly is the driving factor for performance for this cohort. Any staff member who shows up and consistently adds value is immediatley rewarded for that.

My main point is that a person who is a liar can still think that me having mgmt politely point out mistakes and train to standards makes us bad people for their mental health lmfao, what about the people they are openly manipulating?

All so tiresome. I don't have to offer jobs.

Good on you. It only starts to get better when people like you put your foot down. Boo hoo your mental health. Your great grandparents lost half their children because we didn't have modern medicine, but go on about how your life is "so hard" Grow tf up.

When i was young my bosses would straight tell me i was a fucking moron if i did something moronic. Guess what? I didn't do it anymore!

now you gently show them how again and tell them five times how much you like them and think they are doing a good job but we need these mistakes to not happen anymore and it is treated like a life trauma.

i genuinely don't know how they make it or what employer could afford to maintain their existence

Are you guys hiring??

Talcott parsons sick theory give us an out but straight lying ya I'd fire them too.

It's called the fiat world. I don't think it's even worth working. There is no reward and these days you have to work harder because no body wants to work. What's worse is companies are hiring immigrants and immigrants always work extra hard because they are afraid of getting sent back home. Many immigrants will not speak up even when they are asked to do unlawful things. Being an employee sucks.

As a boss, Running a business also sucks.

Once we get on the Bitcoin standard things will get better for both the employee and boss but we are not on the Bitcoin standard yet.

I got a call from the mother of a student (28 fcking yrs old) telling me my expectations were unreasonable and he was becoming depressed and somebody needed to intervene.

at 28 years old he called his mommy to complain because he was uncomfortable

youngsters are almost universally sweet good people

but damn they soft

I can't even understand the perspective. Like are employers not supposed to hold staff accountable?

The funniest part is these people always think they are smarter than you but all of their choices would lead the business to fail in three days.

my business is much smaller than yours I think

and I spend a lot of time volunteering

but i do not employ *anyone unless ive personally vetted them for at least a year

it means we stay small.

but I prefer it that way.

When I was a manager at Uhaul I was just running an adult daycare…

It didn’t matter who I hired…

It was just a revolving door trying to find a good employee… 1 in a 100 and those hires went on to be managers…

Pussies
