I used to recommend Phoenix wallet to new users, for easy lightning payments. Since phoenix quit the US, what are some easy to use wallets for a new btc user? Have a family member i need to help.

Mutiny is good, I use it myself. If you use a Fedimint it's very easy to setup.
Breez lets you receive right away without worrying about channel management (see screenshot).
