I see your point.. but in that case if the client is one that shows in feed (or in a selected one kike primal or Amethyst do) all comments, then a valuable one would be higlited and probably zapped or boosted - quoted, so it will reach somehow more people.
What you risk with not showing the actual "time-note-chain" is someone maliciously pumping comments with zap or fake user, or you would see more likely comment of well known people that have always more engagement and will be often on the top.. something like twitter blue check somehow.
I understand your observation, I think that with the passage of time we will have to look for a better way to organize the list of comments. Today in a note from Jack there are on average about 100 or more comments and I donāt think anyone will read them all, maybe some of value is being lost in the middle of everyone.
In the case of Twitter, those who pay are at the top of everything, here what the community considers valuable should be more visible. š¤š¼
