In each client, all the comments of a note are listed and displayed differently, what is your preferred form?

1- first sent is the first on the list

2- last sent is the first on the list

3- with more likes or zap goes first on the list

#Asknostr #Nostr

1- first eventual comment of the author of the note if he directly commented on it (so like thread)

2- first sent is first on the list

In some clients it does so, 1 would be the author’s comment if it exists. 2 does not convince me, in the example of 1000 comments the one that adds the most value is perhaps in the last ones. How would we give it a visualization?

I see your point.. but in that case if the client is one that shows in feed (or in a selected one kike primal or Amethyst do) all comments, then a valuable one would be higlited and probably zapped or boosted - quoted, so it will reach somehow more people.

What you risk with not showing the actual "time-note-chain" is someone maliciously pumping comments with zap or fake user, or you would see more likely comment of well known people that have always more engagement and will be often on the top.. something like twitter blue check somehow.

I understand your observation, I think that with the passage of time we will have to look for a better way to organize the list of comments. Today in a note from Jack there are on average about 100 or more comments and I don’t think anyone will read them all, maybe some of value is being lost in the middle of everyone.

In the case of Twitter, those who pay are at the top of everything, here what the community considers valuable should be more visible. šŸ¤™šŸ¼

add a sorting button with those 3 options and let the user decide!

It can be ideal although perhaps not very functional in some clients.

Nah , I don’t like it. I think the first come first served note listing is nice. When it’s interesting I’m happy to read down and am often rewarded by doing so

In some clients it is the other way around, the last to arrive is first on the list. In the example would you read up to comment 1000 to see if it adds value?

It depends on what the subject was and how engaging the replies I guess, I see what you’re saying though, that is a lengthy read. I guess I’m just resisting the algo’s , bots , multiple account users could upvote their dross so easily … I like it simple , first note top of the list ā€œchange my mindā€ šŸ«‚āš”ļø

All right, it works for now. When there are more than 100 interactions in the notes, it will surely be necessary to review how to organize the lists of comments.

Agreed. it’s going to be a tricky one. Great questions.
