I second this.
Discussion
Okay, here's my unadulterated opinion, on one of them.
War might sometimes be necessary, but it is always ugly and full of gruesomeness, it always hits civilians hardest (directly or indirectly), and nobody gets to walk away The Good Guy.
I knew that, before Palestine erupted into chaos and rubble, because I grew up the granddaughter of both a conquered people and the conquerors. My elders always said the best offence is a good defense because being at war is the worst thing you can experience, so make sure nobody is tempted to try you.
That is why it is to be avoided. That is why you shouldn't encourage other people to engage in it, but it is also why I am completely calm discussing it. This is what war looks like. There is no mercy there. Only winners and losers and surviving the next 20 yards. Stop wringing your collective hands and making a surprised face. What did you expect?
Also, appealing to your enemy for humanitarian aid, while you continue to happily rain bombs down on them as part of your grand plans to wipe them into the sea and conquer the world, is a whole new level of hypocrisy, but we're supposed to pretend not to notice. This is me noticing.
Choosing war always means you lost every previous opportunity to choose something better.
That is why the Peacemakers are Blessed.
Yeah ok. But all of this war thing is based on consent eventually. Not talking about it, ignoring it, etc, doesn't help i think. It helps consent. I am not supporting war, but usually i am going to talk about it. And about the politics of it. Also for other things 😋
Not consent, but a combination of coercion, indoctrination, complacency, deep-rooted apathy, and excessive levels of selfishness that have, unfortunately, become the norm.
My general impression of the discussion of any armed conflict on Nostr is that whichever side tans less in the sun, contains more Jews, or has a wealthier government can do nothing right, and the opposite side can do nothing wrong. Twitter is generally the other way around.
My religion doesn't work that way, as it elevates all people to moral actors who have to face their own personal judgement. St. Peter won't give you a pass, just for choosing to have the best ancestors.
But people don't want to hear that and I am perfectly happy spending all day talking about code, so I talk about code. Otherwise, the five Nostriches who haven't muted me, already, will join the crowd. It's not like I can go back to Twitter. They banned me, remember? Three times. LOL
I mean, it's incredibly ironic. As far as I know, I'm one of the few Nostriches that has ever been censored.
And then I came here and immediately got mass-muted because I constantly piss people off. 😂 People are the same, everywhere, but at least here I can keep posting.

Lol people hate being corrected all the time🤷.
It's funny to me, how pedophiles and Neonazis and stuff come on here because they want to avoid censorship and I'm like, This is a logical argument for why your philosophy is wrong...
And they're like

i also got banned twice from twitter. it probably was a big factor in why i totally abandoned it.
Yeah, same. Got tired of spinning up new accounts.
I think every side in a war does wrong things, but often one side is more right and the other is not. I post accordingly.
I never used twiitter so i cannot tell, i guess you are right. I also believe in personal judgement, my religion obviously says the same, my thinking also, so i agree. You cannot justify yourself for example, of killing people, because a religious book says that some land is yours.
But i think that the personal judgement concept, comes straight from ancient Egypt. I mean the bible of the dead is all about it 🤷.
Yes, to all of that except for the idea of having winners and losers.
Well, you can always win or lose a fight, but everyone ends up clobbered.
Yep. But I don't really view that as "winning" in the context of large-scale conflicts. Wars are pricey. If you don't end up dying, your bank acounts sure will in the long run.
Well, if you gain valuable resources or arable land or water/mining rights, or whatever, you could end up much wealthier.
Land isn't fungible, like money is, so gaining particular pieces of land can be worth fighting for, if it's an investment that might lead to more money (or security, which can lead to more money), later.
Those are good points👍. Can't really argue with that.
