In your speculation, you put in balance the chance of being killed and the money you WILL NEED SO YOU WONT STARVE. If you don’t go out, you starve and die, if you leave your house, you may or may not be killed. This is true in every turn of life. We all speculate.

Non-speculative: I need a ton of bread for a hotel and invest in a bakery. Speculative: I don't need any bread but think others will and invest in a bakery.
