Nostr Web Client

Clients (and users) must do a better job helping each other find people and notes on Nostr.

For example, someone just sent me a link like this: https://snort.social/e/note1g459tq3ucft6jz5s7zhhswjtz7h8qlfyf43vmrsu7tfpw800hkesq543gg -- but when I click on it it doesn't show anything. Why? Because Snort has no way to know in which relay this note is. It also doesn't show on https://nostr.guru/note1g459tq3ucft6jz5s7zhhswjtz7h8qlfyf43vmrsu7tfpw800hkesq543gg

But if I convert that to nevent format with the Mostr relay encoded inside then it suddenly works: https://nostr.guru/nevent1qqsy26z4sg7vy4afp2g0ptmc8f930tns05jy6ckd3cw095shrhhmmvcpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43qe2wps6

It also works on https://coracle.social/nevent1qqsy26z4sg7vy4afp2g0ptmc8f930tns05jy6ckd3cw095shrhhmmvcpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43qe2wps6

Not hard to tack on an optional b64safe encoded URL to the note ID. but really big. better if there was an encoded relay registration id (author pubk). also, a relay could then spin up on a new url, and re-register itself by broadcasting a note with its new url.

as a non tech knowledgeable individual what can I do other than copy note ID and paste it? or rant to the devs of the clients?

'Copy note URL' should give a url that works from everywhere. Web clients can make a link to themselves, but yes, relay info is needed. Mobile clients can create a web endpoint for this.

Or, each relay could have a simple web endpoint -- they have the info and they do have wss, so an extra https would not be difficult.

Absolutely. Shared events should always be shared with the relay in which it was found on.

Thanks for mentioning this. When I reposted a note from Damus into Twitter the link (re?)directed to Snort showing no engagement even though the note got a 🤙🏽.
