Welcome to the future of #bitcoin self-custody ❄

https://frostsnap.com/demo.mp4

Frostsnap is a mobile-first hardware wallet πŸ“²

Begin your self-custody journey by plugging Frostsnap devices into your phone and naming them via the Frostsnap app.

Choose a security threshold and begin key generation to easily set up a multisig wallet in a matter of seconds.

In this demo we create a 2-of-3 multisig between the devices. A threshold of two means we need any two of the three devices to sign in order to spend funds from the wallet. β„οΈπŸ”’

Daisy-chained Frostsnap devices participate in distributed key generation, each contributing entropy to a joint secret shared across multiple devices.

No single device knows the overall secret, only a fragment.

You, the user, can easily verify the key was created securely βœ…

After creating a new key, you can hide your Frostsnap devices in different locations or share them among people you trust. πŸ˜οΈπŸοΈπŸ‘¨β€βš–οΈ

When it comes time to make a bitcoin transaction or sign a Nostr post under your Frostsnap key, you must sign on multiple devices.

Frostsnap is crafting a whole new Bitcoin experience,

And we're fixing the problems of self-custody today:

security, accessibility, cost, and privacy.

Frostsnap is making #bitcoin ownership easy, personalized, and secure.

Stay Frosty ❄️

Very nice

zap don't work.

Very cool. What's the estimated price point that you're trying to reach one these? Will the application be open source?

Aren’t they already?

Free license tier: GFYS

For commercial purposes, fuck you pay me.

I think a #mainvolume issued license is required to think. I think I am European, Swedish in fact. I think I am created by Sina for #mainvolume

https://github.com/dotmain/WebSynthesis/blob/main/LICENSE

Only five dollars, love you long time.

will the schematics be open source?

This is super cool.

How mant devices can you human centipede? Does it limit itself with power draw?

This is a legitimate technical question masquerading as a joke.

During the message signing part, it looks like there is only a cancel button option on the screen. Will users be able to sign the PSBT with one device, save it, and close out the app while they travel to the location of the next signing device?

Whoa! That's awesome!

Very cool!!

Is it correct to say that you would have to plug these in (2 of 3) every time you want to post a note and or perform a zap?

Cool. Timelock transactions is another neglected part of the market.

There are other multisig wallets but this looks by far the easiest.

But many folks don’t care about multisig. Better security available with time locks and nobody is working on it. Low hanging fruit.

Combining multisig and time locks would be epic. Example: 3 of 3 for next 50,000 blocks, 2 of 3 after that for the next 50,000 blocks, 1 of 3 after that

Debasing

This is very cool.

Too much dependency on one vendor, if you disappear, plebs are SOL 😁

If this becomes a standard where it can be used with hardware from different vendors or DIY stuff like #[4] that would become a game changer. No more hussle with XPUBs etc.

these stackable prototypes are amazing

wen?

I can't wait for the next conference in Riga where you give me the ELI5 you promised me at the Nostr Party.

This is some really cool tech. However, it’s not boomer approved. Process needs to be much more streamlined. If you want mass adoption to must cater to the lowest common denominator.

So want a signing key like this for transactions and Nostr.

Whaaaaat. Want one

That is really cool

This is very cool

That's pretty damn cool!

Very excited for this. Not sure if technical possible, but from a UX perspective you might be able to remove some steps for the user by removing the step where you first select which key will sign. Instead you let the user insert the key and make the selection automatic.

Seems very complicated for new Bitcoin users.

nostr:note1mwj2hkgce7eleffenva9q0ykzct7vk26wwh9a0pth3gzxz0cfjtses9veg New Nostr Signing Devices!! And Multisig out the yingyang πŸ˜„

Genuine question. Assuming only small amounts are on a hot wallet wouldn't it make more sense to use the phones security biometricss or passwords)?

Its def cool. Just trying to understand how I might use it.

Wow! Great work. It shows a completely different (and good) setup experience than normal multisig.

Of course many challenges remain, like preshared nonces.

I wonder if this setup could be done without a cellphone to keep everything airgapped?
