Its a mix of both factors, wasabi being compromised to allow identification of UTXOs and custodial lightning wallets being a chokepoint to stop users from transacting.

I don't, I just mean people using shit like Wallet of Satoshi to onboard people on LN when theyre fully custodial and a black box.

Use Phoenix instead, open source and you control your keys and channels.

you can send from phoenix, not receive

you can choose to use wos or ln.tips for receiving and everytime when you have an amount of sats (let's say 100-250k) to move it into "intermediate self-custody" aka phoenix.

or just swap w e.g. fixedfloat to onchain and directly put it into cold storage.. idk. figuring out still also.
