Any narrative that seeks to compare Bitcoin to gold is wrong and not helpful, they don't share any common properties whatsoever
Discussion
Proof-of-work?
I'm inclined to disagree. They share many of the same characteristics of a hard money, but bitcoin tends to outperform in most of these categories.
This is not to say that bitcoin and it's network don't offer an immeasurable amount of opportunities that gold simply can't (try teleporting gold for example...), but in my mind there are definitely a few parallels that can be drawn, even if doing so is a bit reductionist and over-simplification.
You have a better analogy to describe it to a layman?
I don't, but I don't think analogies are useful for something so novel
Otherwise you get dummies like Taylor telling people it's a battery
I would argue you need more analogies, not less. We have always used analogies with new tech so we can meet people where they are and which will likely increase adoption. Cars were horseless carriages, email was electronic mail, ect. I bet you use word like mining, seed, layer 2, which are all analogies. You can definetly have bad analogies like calling it a battery haha, but I don't think means they are all useless
They share SOME characteristics... I mean, Satoshi even made a direct analogy to gold for "mining." It's an attempt to create a digital version of a commodity money, like gold.
Satoshi also used windows what a NOOB
Dumb take. Both hard money, both the main assets in their categories, both the top non-stonk investments worldwide
