Write down your 12 words
Put it in a safe
Save it to your Cloud
Don't entrust your money to shitty electronic devices
In your cloud?? No.
so you would rather trust a device that will fail at any given time or can be lost?
I never said that, just done store your seed in the cloud dumbo.
You are right. I meant "Your Cloud"
Also not good.
Why? There are good proven self-hosted cloud solutions
So many good ways to store a seed & you choose the one easiest to fuck up & with many potholes.
Tell me what is wrong with Nextcloud,OwnCloud, and SyncThing on a technical level

You found the solution. I would not trust their encryption software though.
Cloud is how Heather Morgan lost her BTC. Assuming the official story is true.
I should say, "Your Cloud"
I agree that these devices are very shitty...especially for the price. But I'm not sure how to transact in self custody with only seed words and no device. I didn't realize I was a noob.
A cloud is an electronic device, and most likely one that someone else owns.
Paper, sure, if you have no intent to spend regularly.
Do you have both?
No, I have a ledger. I know.... I've been putting off getting something else, because I never really bought into the FUD and I never opted into the recovery update. But I am considering getting one of these but I can't decide.
I don't understand why it needs to be 'or.' SeedSigner is strictly a signer. It doesn't store a seed in a secure element. I have a use case for both. I use a Coldcard and SeedSigner.
SeedSigner, in my opinion, is great for multisig and absolute zero cold storage. You can use it for everyday use, but I don't like to keep a single seed laying around with too much value attached.
Basically, I find the SE more convenient for #Bitcoin I plan to touch a lot more often. Once that gets large enough, I may consider moving it to a key I generate using Entropia and use the SeedSigner if I ever need to quickly use a key without loading it into a SE.
The point is that there are uses for both. They aren't really the same.
haven't used passport, but for a signing device I prefer nothing hot, so the app is a negative imo.
Seed Signer is simple, but will not have a nice UI like a phone app would.
I'm thinking now that I don't even need a signing device. I'll just send sats from river to the same address for now. I don't plan on sending sats off the wallet for a long time. If the time comes...the available devices will be worlds ahead of these two. It will most likely be integrated into my brain stem. #bitcoin
I'd recommend NOT sending to the same address, but using a new address to receive each time within the same wallet.
here's an article in Bitcoin Magazine about it.
