'Event' is the abstraction encompassing both notes and other stuff, therefor it would be Etr; which pronounced sounds terribly similar to something else.

i thought the other stuff was everything other than notes like REQs and EOSE, CLOSED, etc

This is how I see it too, but I don't think this was in my mind when the name came up either.

I kinda hate the name "event" myself but I can't think of anything else anymore, I mostly use "notes" to talk about kind:1.

I noticed nostr:npub107jk7htfv243u0x5ynn43scq9wrxtaasmrwwa8lfu2ydwag6cx2quqncxg was using note for kind1 as well. In nostrdb and damus codebases it’s used for any kind. Whatever lol

I always thought about "other stuff" as anything that isn't kind 1 but it's notes all the way down 🐒

I like 'event' because it implies an action in time; and because signing is a performance, this is correct.

As such an event implies it carriers its own context of actor(s) and time; which is also correct.

Event is the correct term, and as is always true, Dutch does it better, naming it: Gebeurtenis

These are the only events I like because events in real life makes me anxious.
