So far it strengthens my belief that bitcoin is a mirror.

Softwar seems to be anticipating a future where the entire internet is on chain?

I mean, no matter how hard you try to classify it, all you get back is a reflection of yourself.

What does that mean?

Of course you can take on as many perspectives as you like, but imagine all these characters taking a point of view and in each case it's just reflecting back at you your own bias. The book softwar was written by a military agent so what do you know, surprise surprise, it can be used as an alternative to war. Couldn't have predicted that ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Gotcha, at the end of the day itโ€™s simply a communication protocol. You can send any sort of communication over it securely.

Itโ€™s merely an abstraction. You fill it with what you want.

No, all it says is that Bitcoin exhibits the same properties as watts in meatspace, but in cyberspace, and maybe has all the same benefits. It's up to us to flesh those out in practice.

It's definitely not about shitcoining.

Not shitcoining but for nuclear warheads communications to be secured by proof of work, etc.

Yes, I think that's what he had in mind.

If you can hardcode a control system such that its only knowledge of the outside world is the Bitcoin Blockchain, a specific xpub, and a missile launcher, you can set it as a switch such that if that utxo moves to the next address, the missile is authorized for launch.

๐Ÿ˜ฌthat is a scary thought. That one can launch a nuclear warhead from oneโ€™s phone so long as they have access to the internet and the bitcoin key. From anywhere.

Yeah it's pretty wild.

But imagine setting it up so that several independent parties within the military, government, industry, etc have keys required to sign it. Voting to start nuclear war with signals that cannot be exploited, because a partially signed transaction is unforgeable.

You can keep adding more and more layers of physical power projection to secure each element of the system, which is pretty neat.

I tend to reject any perspective that says bitcoin isn't money.

E.g. bitcoin is just a database, bitcoin is just a protocol, bitcoin is just a security system.

Like, take any system, the body, economy, nature, a tree, and say, these things are just energy and/or resources, and then call that an objective perspective.

They are all complex systems, and are all greater than the sum of their parts. Also, let's not leave out the underlying spiritual nature of all this too.

I do like the book so far, except that bitcoin is tied to it. Get off my lawn. ๐Ÿ˜‚

You have inspired a meme

Yup. For example, if you introduce an invasion species into an ecosystem, you can ruin an ecosystem. Trying to categorizing a system is futile.

If the system is ruined, then itโ€™s not resilient. If itโ€™s not resilient, then why bother.

Is that how you manage your garden?

Actually, yes ๐Ÿ˜„ if you donโ€™t survive youโ€™re out!

If you catch a problem early, it can be manageable. Awareness is key, and so is manifestation. Even the spam filter debate is relevant.
