3 varieties of tomatoes, 6 plants each, and the rest I put in a big pot because i feel bad throwing them away and I'm out of pots rn :D 🌱🥳

And I am looking for a spicy pepper plant, I didn't grow any myself. Really want to make my own pepper powder this year 💥

how are your tomato plants? 🪴

Looking great, I’ve never really had much success with tomatoes. I’m waiting for a bunch of seed to sprout. Already got a load of beans and some carrots waiting to be planted out Added some nasturtium into the mix this year as well.

I use a seed starting soil, its very fine and has low nutrition for better root growth from the start. When they look like this i start separating them and add nutritious soil. Warmth might be the most important factor, i think.

I also have a grow light, this helps me with water control because the soil dries out more quick, so overwatering is not a big problem for me. hope this helps :)

What kind of beans? 🫘 Will set up a patch for carrots too! I want to try to not dig and instead putting cartons and compost layer on top 🥕

Nice tips thanks! Will try it again tomatoes again but don’t have high hopes.

Beans do well (if I can get them through the short period where the snails try demolish them). Have dwarf French beans on the go this time.

When do you send them outside?

probably around mid may or a bit earlier

Growing spicy peppers for the first time this year too. Not aiming for ghost pepper levels of spiciness, but having something with a little kick to make chili pasta or something like that would be nice. Plenty of cherry tomatoes, still trying to find a variety that's content in our bad excuse for soil (can't put them all in the elevated bed). Also basil, because it pairs well with tomatoes (at least taste-wise) and because you can't have too much of that. Fresh, frozen with olive oil, or just air dried. And a few other herbs. Tried red bell peppers but they didn't get traction on the consumption side in our family; while kids like fresh ones, they detest processed ones, and you can eat fresh only so far.

chili pasta with cherry tomatoes, basil and oliv oil is such a great meal 🥰

light to mid spicy is good

Tomatoes and basil are also great companions while growing 🌿

Today I go on the market to buy cucumber and tomato plants.

So my plants are still on the market.

Had jalapenos last year, still using the powder made from it.

So good! jalapenos or something like that would be nice! did you get some? 🪴

Not for this year.

Nice franny love that 👌🏼

Hi franny nice to meet you 🤝 Sounds like you’ve got a serious tomato operation going! 🍅🔥 Growing your own spicy peppers for homemade pepper powder? That’s next-level. Ever tried fermenting them for a deep, smoky heat?

As for my tomatoes… let’s just say they’re in negotiations with the weather right now. 😅 What’s your go-to variety for the best flavor?

Tomatoes need 14°C, so i haven't planted any yet. They are still in their pots in a protected place. But there is no hurry either...

Very nice to hear that you are going to made paprika 👍
