GM! โ˜•๏ธ How are you today? ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿซ‚

Today I moved my peppers into larger pots. I had exceptionally fresh seeds, some of which I obtained from last year's plants and the rest I bought. They germinated more than I assumed and I have 24 seedlings ๐Ÿ™ˆ I don't know where I'll find space for this, but I have time until May ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

If you want to sow peppers this is the last moment, because some germinate up to 40 days. If you sow them in March, unfortunately the harvest will be in October/November and not all will ripen.

It is always the same problem for me. Where to put all plants when they grow up?๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ โ€Learning by doingโ€ doesnโ€™t seem to aplay on grow from seeds๐Ÿ˜‚ But it is nice to have โ€someโ€ extra to give as a gift to friends. ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒฑ

Exactly the same thought, I'll donate the surplus to friends as I won't stretch the garden ๐Ÿ˜‚

Last spring I tested to grow in rolled bubble wrap and household paper. It have been very popular here in Sweden for some years and I just had to try it out to see what everybody was talking about. And yes, it was amazing! Everything grew so well. So happy that I could fit over hundred seeds in one small roll. Didnโ€™t take any space at all. Guess whats happend? Well they growed a bit more and when the were big enough for a plant per pot I had a HUGH problem were to put all hundreds and hundreds of plants๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is a great idea at my place it worked well with leeks and onions because they have a very long roots and sometimes it is difficult to repot them.

Yes it is a great idea for sure! The only thing that didnโ€™t was sucessful was my Cosmos Bipinnatus. They become very week . I usually grow them outdoor from the start when the soul is heted up so I donโ€™t know if it was the roll growing itself or if it was just beacause I grew them indoor.

I grow Cosmoses using winter sowing, so they are outside now and when they have grown up and have true leaves I will move them to their final location. I don't grow them indoors because it's too warm and they stretch their stems out a lot, besides I pity the windowsill space because that's reserved for vegetables. I don't sow directly into the groundbecause birds and wind effectively reduce the amount.

Aa yes! Maby I will try that. I usually do that with flowers like Zinnia and sunflowers. Otherwise mostley cale, cabbage and broccoli. Will definitely try Cosmoses sometime. But for me it have never been a problem with the wind and birds. I mostley have problem with mice stealing my sweet pea seeds or deer stealing tulip bulbs๐Ÿ˜†

If not birds then deer, if not wind then mice ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Nature is amazing ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Gm. I dont plant peppers until early march but im in canada. I find they get way too big and stressed before i can get them in the ground. I usually get germination in 5 to 10 days. Hot peppers grow even faster for me. Happy growing!

GM! โ˜•๏ธ Sure, it all depends on where you live and what species you plant. I, from experience, start earlier otherwise I don't have peppers until October (Germany). I Have no idea how does it look in Canada, as far as I remember, you had snow for a very long time last year, and at my place now it is about 7C with night frosts to a maximum of -5C

Our last frost is typically ~10 may. I usually plant peppers and tomatoes out a week after that.

So like here. But If I would start pepper in May I would never eat it this year ๐Ÿ˜‚

How are you liking the soil blocks?

I am using soil block for the first time and quite a nice device. Unfortunately, I have a problem with choosing the right stands, because I could use smaller ones for max. 20 blocks, but everywhere there are only large planting trays, and I will use them only for tomatoes, because I plan to grow more of them. Other than that, I am satisfied.

I saw some people using large lunch trays. What is your watering process? I keep thinking Iโ€™d let them dry out or melt them during watering.

Yes and those larga lunch trays are alil bit too big for me. Pepper I placed in a smaller one with holes in the floor so when I watered them I would put the tray with the blocks in a bigger tray and pour water on it. The problem with the big tray is that there are no holes in the bottom and you pour about 2 cm of water in the tray and they absorb it, but you have to spray from the top, otherwise they dry out and fall apart.

I see. Sounds like a pain in the ass lol. I may build one and try it though.

It is really cool, I just started so maybe I did not find "right" way to do it. But Iit really reduces the number of plastic pots. Ahh and remember one think you have to use mix of soil, perlit and coconut, otherwise it will be difficult to form the blocks.

Thatโ€™s good. I have lots of coco and perlite. Your pepper plants look like they are loving it.

I have to say that they have a lot of roots, so maybe that actually favours them, because they can weave around the block, without restriction. As my celeriac grows up, I'll try quilting them into these cubes. We'll see what comes out of that.

Iโ€™m excited for you. I hope to see more pictures of them growing and your methods.

Thank you! ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’œ Have a successful season!

Ok doing this week, thankyou for reminder!

No problem! ๐Ÿซ‚

Good morning, GM.

I want chili peppers for peperoncino.

Good morning N ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’œ What a great idea, they taste delicious! ๐Ÿคค

I'm in zone 3. Just getting ready with the heat mats and grow lights.

I built an offline community focused on food security, so other folks are starting my peppers.

My responsibility is on getting the tobacco going.

Sounds great! I like to share my plants with others too. I always sow too much, but I usually give away the surplus, so it's not too bad. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Zone 7 reporting in, we got some hot peppers growing over here! My wife wrapped the shelves in plastic and made a temp greenhouse environment.

Niceee! I see you like it really hot ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜‚ Carolina Reaper os way too hot for me, but I have one super hot and it os a thai one.

P.S. I love this seed bag and "stupid hot" ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿซ‚
