Most people prefer the convenient lie. Maybe instead of worrying about making things easier for most people, we worry about making it a place that those who value freedom can thrive. Maybe the inconveniences of the protocol are a feature, not a bug. Freedom is proof of work, and those who truly value it will put in the work. When we lower that barrier by making things work easier, we start inviting people in who’s value don’t align with ours, then slowly but surely this thing we built as a tool for freedom becomes co-opted and morphs into the very thing we were fighting against. The genius of this protocol is that users have choice to make use of any and all of the apps and services in a thriving and open market of independently operated products. Only by doing so can each user assure that their content is not controlled or manipulated on the network at large.
