This is so true it hurts

It’s crazy how people are still willing to trust even when telegram admits this

I had a similar response to a friend the other day when I mentioned government over reach and privacy, his response was "If you're not a criminal, what have you got to hide"🤯.

I like to answer: then give out your SSN or your banking info if you have nothing to hide 🤷🏾‍♂️

I've been comparing it to the physical world, instead.

Having cameras inside everyone's home would save thousands of domestic assault victims. If you have nothing to hide and aren't an abusive person, you shouldn't have any issues with this. After all, it'll keep everyone safer.

That’s a good one. No one in their right mind would want to agree to that

Nice. Will use that myself.

Good analogy. Arguably those cameras are already there in the form of cell phones and those Google smart home things.

Right. What Hitler said.

Literally me this evening.

The we’re not criminals argument is so tiring. I think I was able to convince my friend to use Simplex. We’ll see

I have been trying to get people out of the Google + Whatsapp trap literally for a decade. Absolutely all of my family and friends keep using Gmail and Whatsapp exclusively. They're completely incapable of getting out.

Some have Telegram too because somehow it's become some sort of news channel, but that's all they use it for, not for messaging.

It feels like an uphill battle to try and get them off those services

Worth noting, many news outlets state Telegram will share information, including IPs and phone numbers.

Keyword: "including".

Glad I was able to convince my friend to use Threema instead
