it's a spec similar to nostr (and extremely intertwined with it) to make your media (and other non-text data) reliably and more censorship resistant.
You can run your own blossom server or buy storage in some of the paid servers.
You can think of blossom servers as nostr relays but for storing large files like images and videos ;)
