well, i got that bicycle... not a fan of the controls, it has a twist throttle that doesn't seem to do anything... gonna have to read the manual, there surely must be a "twist and go" option

also, highly dubious about the claimed 80km range, but these hills are pretty tough... on the bright side, at low gear i can maintain about 13km/h going up hill... just will take a little exploration to find the flatter routes to follow to the various destinations

i'm a bit nervous about the disc brakes going down steep hills tho, what happens if they get red hot? i saw this happen once, didn't smell very nice... on a bicycle rolling down the hills on the south side of Sarajevo... the bike was great down at the road along the river tho

i can see myself in the near future buying little kits and multimeter and soldering iron and removing the whole control display and connecting up a proper throttle

seems like most of the parts will be standard bicycle bits so it shouldn't be terribly hard to do... swapping out the alloy wheels for light weight spoked also... and the picture showed a goddamn bag rack, was no such thing dammit... again, seems all standard, there is even bolt holes to mount V caliper brakes... and probably will be possible to put a drive/regen hub on the front eventually and a second battery integrated into the rear rack

definitely not a rough road vehicle though... aluminium, tension bolted joints... and anyhow, i'm nervous as hell on some of these roads around here, more than a few places you can end up falling over a 2 metre or more fall off the side if you don't pay attention

thankfully they don't drive like italians but they are a bit crazy even still

oh yeah, and i am pretty sure i burned more calories riding the bike than i do when walking, even though i tend to pick the shorter, steeper paths... gresham's law i think that is - more efficient systems lead to higher overall usage

Some of them require minimal speed from pedal or glide and supplement instead of going from a dead stop.

that shit is sooooo annoying

maybe i can hack it somehow to lower that threshold because it's too high

i remember this with electric scooters too, you have to kick off to start them moving, was only like 5km/h but this thing doesn't seem to kick in until like 8-10, and it pushes too hard, and it makes me nervous that it's gonna disrupt my estimation of when to cross traffic

If you’re concerned about such things, also be aware that if you modify it to engage immediately, it will not be legal on some trails. Because it digs up the trail that volunteers maintain.

i live in an extremely hilly landscape, and the bike is a folder and almost every joint can't take excessive force without potentially risking damage or an injury - and not to mention its tires are street tires and it already makes enough clunk noises to make me nervous as it is, i'm not going offroad on this thing except in an emergency

Oh, those folding bikes are so cool. I totally want one of those.
