Happy to say I’m ticking of quite a few 👍

Any tips for backing up on premise servers off site? Don’t wanna lose all my photo’s in case of fire or something.

Use NextCloud on a Linux server at home. It's FOSS, written in PHP. And with sophisticated web interface.

Use duplicated storage and/or COW filesystem (btrfs, zfs)

On the phone use NextCloud client with autoupload

And if you want constant sync regarding contacts, calendar entries, use DavX5 on the phone.

And if you want, use NextCloud extensions both the server side and on the phone. E.g. password manager. Tons of free extension exist.

All of the phone (for Android) can be reached on F-droid store

I hope this info will be useful :-)

Btw: don't forget to use on premise firewall/adblocker DNS server, like PiHole (e.g. on a Raspberry)

And if you want, use monitoring softwares, e.g. Nagios, Zabbix

But if you want to be more sophisticated, use ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) with e.g. Suricata network monitoring

This rules dude, very helpful 🙏

Have a server machine ready, just need to install it.

Any Linux distro recommendations?

Found TrueNas but maybe there’s something better? (Bit of a FOSS newb)
