Wife on phone with potential employer for 2 hours.
😬
What could you possibly talk about?
Is this uniquely Japanese? I have no idea about the local job market.

For engineers our company does like 4 interviews, the final being a 2.5 hour interview. Don’t think I’ve ever heard a phone screen go that long though.
Usually a good sign, building trust. 🐶🐾🫡
I could never do this. Consider me unemployable in Japan or any company that asks this.
It happened naturally, so flow of time is not noticed. 🐶🐾🤣
I find many workplaces to be like this - half the time not doing anything productive.
I could never do that either, would feel like FOREVER
Remember, all feelings are subjective 🐶🐾🤷♂️
Maybe because it is hard to fire people in japan, once you get hired, you get hired forever
You are basically family
For hat I know Japanese businesses are usually very procedural. Always a lot of talking, a lot of papers to fill, fax to use, lots of informal reunions even after work (nomikai), etc.
