ETH transactions fees would eat away at you and cost more if you're making small transactions. Lightning was designed for this very thing.

There is a learning curve to get crypto/BTC operating correctly for you. It is beyond worth your time to learn though! Also, even though there may be "mistakes" made here and there, they are valuable lessons along the road to true financial freedom.
