Legacy addresses

gotcha.

Have you read into the theory that segwit could get rugged?

I know, rabbit holes everywhere, lol.

Oh no… haha. Will have to read.

I havent heard! New to me! Only using one cause its the only way to get off a website. Have a link with info about how it can get pulled?

basically its a soft-fork that removed the signature part of a transaction. From what I can understand, 75% of all bitcoin is held in legacy addresses, the 25% supposedly could be rugged if moners reverted to legacy chain abandoning the soft fork of segwit.

One of the reasons I asked in a post a few weeks back, long-term storage, it might seem, should be stored in a legacy address, seems "safer" from the sense it won't be abandoned as an upgrade that eventually failed...?

here's a link I was given, but I hate these kind if 4chan bloggy spots ....

Ahahha damn. Question. I just need it to get sats from a bitcoin faucet. I should be able to move those sats from segwit or legacy into a regular wallet no problem right?

most wallets and exchanges use segwit these days.

that being said, perhaps perhaps perhaps it may be wise to store some in a legacy address... 🤷‍♂️

Having different storage locations is always a good idea. Problem i find is not many wallet apps support legacy.

yet 75% of bitcoin is held in them... hmmm....
