also: 4 minutes is ideal for me

also change their own acceptance status depending on what they're doing

then callers would be well informed about whether they can or cant call at that time

Yes yes yes. Nobody would design it the current way from scratch. That we are still emulating the behavior of the original Siemens pipe ringer from 1877 in software is nuts when you think about it. I never would have thought about how stupid this is until you mentioned it. But it is insanely stupid.
