Today's version has a new #value4value card in notifications. You donate (or click in the X βΉοΈ) and it goes away. Zaps go directly to the wallets of the people involved in each version.

How do zappers get recognition?
They don't. This is not transactional. They are not buying recognition or getting themselves into a special class of users. But they see their zaps to the post.
I don't know if this is going to work or not, but we gotta focus on the things that matter (the app) and not paid-only feature sets and separate user classes.
Aight, got it! Thanks for clarifying the approach sir π
I'm diving deep into designing for #V4V, making me very curious for everyone's strategies. Specifically on the feedback users get after zapping. And since you're an out-of-the-box thinker π
Had no doubt about the App-first focus and I'm not insinuating "paid-only feature sets and separate user classes".
Nice! Yeah I would steer away from giving people rewards or badges for their donation. Otherwise, the incentive game gets tricky.
We could all use some amazing "Thank you" designs though :).
Yup, great "thank you" UI's is π― part of my #V4V toolkit.
More interactive would be better though:
I'd really love a quick way for the zapped to signal to the zapper "I've seen this and appreciate this".
Something like giving a "π " reaction to a the zap. If you think of something there, lemme know π
Zap reactions are possible. The only confusing part is to show this well in the notifications feed of the receiver. It's weird/confusing to see a zap getting liked.
Indeed, drawing this notification UI as we speak and it's not easy to solve.
Exactly why I'm looking for less weird and confusing options.
Or why I'll probably accept very soon that anything can and will done on Nostr, that the simplest option wins and that I'd better make the UI work π
By zapping?
So in this instance would my sars be equally distributed to each dev wallet. Or can you structure it from the devs side where dev1 did 0.25 of total release work so 25% of donated sats get channelled to his wallet automatically.
Yeah, I need to make the percentages more clear in the UI. Usually I set them up in each release to what I think is a fair distribution besed on the work. Maybe there is a better way to create these. π€
Well in many circumstances people who donate should not know the distribution percentages (and don't care). However on the backend all devs want a fair cut so maybe it's tied to the code commit ratio or something.
Then there is the other scenarios where the donators want donation distribution control at the front end. I can imagine this yielding higher donation rates in some cases. Good example might be for sporting teams. You want to reward the midfield and offence today but the defence was horrible so no sats for you!
haha code commit ratio is a really bad idea... way to incentivise garbage
no, it should be entirely according to their rank in the operation, junior, senior, marketing, communications, etc etc etc... you set the roles, and base the breakdown on the ratios of that set of the team based on market rates for the work
it necessarily means there has to be someone in charge and accountable for setting this rank for all contributors
at least that's how i would do it anyway
if someone in marketing, for example, put out some stuff that really pulled in the donations, for example, then their rank should be upgraded, that's the logical upshot of this... it's quite a neat system for establishing fund distribution, it could work not just in the donation situation but for an organisation that is funding off grants and other speculative contributions (if there is some reasonable mechanism for adding contributors to the set of split targets - it could be done for sure and make it very automatic)
Shoot if your payment fails (my zap wallet was empty) the dialogue goes away π
Pledging to zap each release 21,000 SATs until that becomes too much too zap π
Trying this out. Noticed there is not a single button to click and have it auto-split everyone? (like podcasting 2.0)
Just FYI, when I tried to send sats to your account, my node errored out and then showed paid. Thankfully I was still able to click again to pay, but then had other issues and closed the app. Once I did that the notification went away and then I couldn't get back in to sent payments to anyone. π©
Hum.. the button does split your amount with everyone, but it's automated. Maybe I can add a screen to let people adjust.
And yes, errors will make the popup disappear :(
I thought it was better like that to make sure we dont piss people off.
Could you make it that when you click on the version number in the side menu it shows the release notes and has a donate link?
Good idea!
Oh, maybe I didn't explain that right, it did split it into the different people but it doesn't autopay everyone. I have to go to each person individually and pay them.
It will only auto pay if you have NWC setup (click and hold the zap icon). If you are using external wallets, it there is no good way to pay everyone automatically. It has to be one by one.
Can you explain this like I am 4? What why, what to do next screen by screen. What values what devs, where's the button?
For anyone wondering, it sends separate zaps. So I zap 1000 and my wallet shows -700, then 6 separate -50 txs.
Can't find the manual settings to split zaps to tip the devs a percentage though.
Yeah, it just follows what the post owner setup.
Donating through that button fails if at least 1 of the npubs in the split does nos have a lnaddress setup π.
Even if it worked, current split UX is far from ideal. I donate want to have to manually zap 10 addresses...
It's only manual if you are using external wallets. On NWC it zaps everybody on a single click.
No external wallet has support for multiple invoices yet.
Ok that makes much more sense. Let's hope this year will bring more NWC integration
Which wallet do you use? You can ask them to reach out to me to implement if they are up to. Either NWC or multi-invoice payment requests.
I use lightning wallet. π
nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 , it's already on their roadmap I believe.
I used nwc before when I had my own lnd node before I nuked it.
I tried it with mutiny but had a terrible experience.
Custodial wallets are out of question for me.
Let's do this, nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5. NWC for the masses.
Juggling a few things, but it should be possible now with our persistent mode for Android
nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z Is there a way to change wallets from NWC to an external wallet? I've set up NWC but sometimes I would like to use another wallet to zap. How can I do this without uninstalling NWC? If this is not possible, it would be nice to have this feature as a button.
Just delete the 3 fields in the NWC settings.
Actually that's what I mean, I would prefer to keep my NWC settings and be able to switch to an external wallet without deleting my settings.
ohhh.. interesting. Why would you want to do that when would you want to come back? It's almost a if you have two accouts with separate NWC settings.. π€π€
I like to have setup my own NWC wallet for 1-click small amount zaps. But let's say that I want to spend a higher amount from another wallet, for instance a donation, or from a wallet with no NWC connection. So it would be nice to be able to switch among different wallets, either with or without NWC.
That makes sense. Very interesting.
