Humans are the weakest link
More and more it seems like there are very real, hostile attacks on devs. Stay safe and anon frens.
One solution is stop Funding them to see who's paying them on the side, I mean, that's what people from the hood do to find out Where is the mole. But I don't know nothing 🤷🏽♀️ it's a way above my pay grade.
Why can't they be like satoshi? And not ask for money and just write code.
I hear where you're coming from but this rhymes with "we need more government, not less" and that doesn't sit well.
The more people involved on a decision making level, the less culpability. The easier it is to obscure who pushed for, who developed, who implemented what. The bigger the one space gets, the less likely, it seems, that it will work for the purity of the system.
We've done this before.
The solution is for more people to understand that there is no solution and that corporations like the government are not your friend. Keep your eyes on the ball!!!

Nakamoto wanted to give (yeah, i really said GIVE his time and mind) to a project that would be an alternative to banks.
Some devs around him HELP him to make it real.
This time is over now that his project is not an experiment anymore.
Devs want to lead the project without listening any other voices or even trying to explain what they do and why they do it.
Miners want profit only even if it make a dark future for the blockchain.
Nodes want to control the blockchain and keep it as clean as possible.
Even if they have to use as multiple software as they want which is not really ideal for a consensus. Because if there is bitcoin core vs knots vs shit core vs new core vs my core.... every different software could be a problem for the network. And the fact that every one run a different node make "states" or "big company" attack easier.
I explain :
If you have only 2 nodes software and 10000 nodes and that split : 5000 bitcoin core / 5000 knots. It means if you want to attack the blockchain, you have to own 5001 nodes with your dirty software.
Now if you have 4 nodes software and 10000 nodes with that split :
3000 bitcoin core / 2000 knots / 2500 shit core / 2500 my core. It means if you want to attack the blockchain, you have to own 3001 nodes with your dirty software.
You understand why a huge diversity of software can be dangerous ?
I know i have exaggerate it, because knots validate the blockchain the same as bitcoin core, but you get my point, the danger can be real. The more you multiply nodes software, the more your expose the network to this kind of sophisticate attack.
For me the solution to all theses problem are just to be more honest and humble, with some wisdom.

His wanting to be able to physically remove spam on an individual level is totally right, but his consequentialist bent toward solving the spam problem, thinking it is necessary to have the same filters and software in virtually all places, is misguided, I think. So I just think his solution needs to be workshopped more by a discussion in the community as well as people just running what they think is right and having options.
A Pareto distribution of node software implementations is much better than having only 2 or 3 with 1 super dominant one. This way there are many options, and the most popular will generally be the most popular for a reason. Every node has significant, though small, influence on the network. Noderunners have agency and make choices. Let them simply choose. Mechanic seems to forget this in his pessimism. But I totally agree with him about property rights and the right to reject what we consider spam from our mempools, and the utility of doing this against the various threats out there, and having a reliable place to source spam filters if we feel we need them.
