If I end up with generational wealth, I will put every bitcoin I have into aging research.

Aging doesn't need to happen. It doesn't mean we will live forever. It simply means our bodies don't need to decay with time.

We decay simply because we have not spent enough time studying it. We are limited by the technology of our time.

Isn’t there this one billionaire doing this very thing and posting videos on YouTube about it?

I don't know, but we will need ~200B USD to take a decent crack at the fundamentals of aging. 1 billionaire is not enough.

It's a good thing we can print USD, though :)

Yeah and he looks effeminate AF.

tbh more curious about the research than the aesthetics

Not one. A lot of them. I hope they hurry up.

Generational wealth is generational precisely because you pass most of it to geerations.

I will pass it in a way that will make them better, not as money.

Death is important to allow room for the new. Aging is the route to this.

Prevention of suffering during the 80 years we each have on this earth is important.

I’m in my mid 50’s and embrace aging.

Death when it comes will be fine also, but preferably when I’m in my early 80’s

It’s all environmental.

Nothing in our dna says we should "age".

This is one of the things that motivates me to work on decentralized reputation and web of trust: it will one day accelerate the speed of scientific research.

Think about all the time, money, & brain power co-opted by big pharma to convince us to believe stuff that simply isn’t true. WoT will help us build filters and tools to make us better able to distinguish truth from propaganda. Not just medicine: math, physics, anything. How many geniuses exist, writing revolutionary ideas and theorems in isolation, never discovered by the world?

WoT is literally life or death. Especially for anyone alive today, those of us who may very well die of old age 5 minutes before anti-aging technology becomes available … ☠️ 😂

Counter point: our bodies came from dust and are only prevented from returning to dust by the divine providence of God. Sin broke our relationship with him, cutting us off from his life. In order to regain that life, we must overcome sin through the victory of Jesus — in which through his life and death he repudiated sin's authority over him, and by extension all mankind. But our bodies remain broken. They also must be re-made through death and resurrection, the same way Christ's body was re-made.

That's the only aging research I'm interested in.

Good for you.

I'll stick with the science of preventing and repairing DNA error, tissue decay and so on.

My man!

Religion really gave a bunch of humans brain damage. Good thing I quit it.

That's alright. I see religion as any other ideology or opinion. Some people are wrong and assholes about it, some are wrong and are OK humans who just let others be. And the same for those who are right.

Well, I on the other hand see religion as a major problem. Teens being kicked out of their homes for coming out as nonreligious, men and women getting brutally murdered just for being atheist, priests raping kids are things I can't possibly accept. Also science denial, or straight out prosecuting people for practicing it.

I agree, but I choose to equalize it with any other opinion, because that's what it is.

The problem is not the opinion itself, but the act of taking it it to the extreme of justifying acts of aggression like the ones you describe, which we have seen with all sorts of opinions, not just religious ones. People kill other people for supporting a different sports team - no need to even invoke what happens with other more "serious" political or social opinions.

Removing the "specialness" of religious opinion in social, legal and political matters is how we solve the problems you describe with religion.

There's absolutely nothing special about a religious opinion. Respect for religion must stop exactly at the same point I stops for any other opinion.

Here’s a rational explanation of reality.

We live in a Universe, it may be real or it may be a simulation.

How it was created, why, by who, or if it was created, we can never know while we only exist within it.

For those that are uncomfortable with agnosticism, we can create a belief system.

A belief system constructed thousands of years ago has significantly less validity than a belief system created with todays knowledge and resources.

Problem lies in the fact that those man-made belief systems are forced onto others every fucking day and I'm tired of it, Mike.

Fair point, well made.

Also, by my logic, Scientology has more validity than Christianity.

Dude, an ultragalactic megaempire, forever traumatized souls and TOM FUCKING CRUISE. How could it not?

👀 🥲

Nah they goofy too

I agree, but you see from your own statement that the problem is when they force them upon people. It happens with any type of idea, it's not a "religion" thing.

Kind of is, I didn't read the whole bible but I'm pretty sure their "holy" books instruct them to do the forcing

Same here!

They are not mutually exclusive of one another. You are already the product of aging research. The fact that the majority of humans live more than 40 years is already aging research in practice. We extended from 40 to 80. And now we need to extend from 80 to 160. Our grandchildren will extend from 180 to 360 years. And everyone will benefit. No matter which religion they follow.

Yeah, no that's fair, just taking the extreme position

They are exclusive though. You're a good and kind person and don't want to say it like it is - but we're dealing with a death cult here. Only through death is their eschatology fulfilled.

And from our perspective, yours is the death cult. Because if you never physically die, you never gain access to eternal life.

"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Sure, that's exactly what I meant. Also, that's why I said good for you with your opinion. You do you.

🐢 we need to learn from the unaging turtles 🐢

It's turtles all the way down.

I don't want to live more than 80

you do you.

Counter point: religion is bullshit

. . . generational wealth

#Awareness #SelfRealization

#Liberation #Fulfillment

Realizing you are not your body, not your mind is your primary purpose in this life.

Your body and mind are vehicles toward that end.

I know very little about this topic, but Susan Cain dedicated a chapter in her book, Bittersweet, about life extension. She even went to a RAADfest which I never knew about until reading her book. It’s not something I’m interested in learning more about in a concrete way but I appreciate authors & others who share their explorations & interest.

#Ayurveda has a 5000 year history in this field. It is said that if you know how to use herbs in a prescribed way you can live for over 200 years. And live forever if you know the secrets of mercury.

Knowledge is structured in consciousness, Vitor. Your level of consciousness determines the knowledge you have about life, about your self.

The journey begins within.
