Let's say for a moment that Nostr consumes all social communication in the future. Do you think that governments would spin up their own clients and/or relays?

love reading these replies with no context, really good brain warp

The question is, who would use them?

maybe you and i won't, but im guessing we can each name several dozen people in our lives that would.

I can see institutions going for it. Maybe even been forced to do so, for content moderation and public safety, of course.

Individuals, not so sure.

Bingo.

Yes. They will capitulate.

To take control of nostr? I think they would just infiltrate the development teams of the biggest clients/relays instead of making their own. Just look at how many feds were working for Twitter, same thing would happen here.

Not only will they spin up their own relays, some will make certain other relays โ€œillegalโ€, and make it so their citizens are only permitted to access โ€œapprovedโ€ relays. Privacy tools will be critical. Tools to maintain anonymity will be essential. Relays that delete content daily will be useful.

Absolutely.

This will be hilarious to watch. Iโ€™m ALL here for it. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€
