Let's say for a moment that Nostr consumes all social communication in the future. Do you think that governments would spin up their own clients and/or relays?
The question is, who would use them?
Yes. They will capitulate.
To take control of nostr? I think they would just infiltrate the development teams of the biggest clients/relays instead of making their own. Just look at how many feds were working for Twitter, same thing would happen here.
Not only will they spin up their own relays, some will make certain other relays āillegalā, and make it so their citizens are only permitted to access āapprovedā relays. Privacy tools will be critical. Tools to maintain anonymity will be essential. Relays that delete content daily will be useful.
Nostr is going to really challenge governments and lawyers.

I donāt know your country or itās political process, but there has to be something you can do thatās safe legal and ethical to fight back against this soft tyranny.
So far they donāt seem to be impressed by protests. They have hit back hard with police on peaceful protests with batons, water cannons during the Covid period.
I donāt like violence and definitely will not use it (unless really necessary). The only useful way I can think of is the use of #bitcoin (as a peaceful protest) and trying to make people aware as much as possible. But this is a very slow processā¦

Not sure if you have seen the images of all the protests happening in the recent years in several European countries? They definitely donāt help in changing course
As a black American, I can 1000% relate to your frustration. Protesting doesnāt work. Voting doesnāt work. Speaking with your money does.
Thereās a book that used El Salvador as a case study for blacks to followā¦ it works the same for folks in the EU.
If you utilize Bitcoin in place of their currency and get restaurants, barber/hair dressers, and other service folk using it to pay each other. Your voice becomes louder (or they become irrelevant).
