GM Nostr devs, a question: does the protocol have a way to mark notifications of messages as read? Seeing old notifications as unread when switching to a different client is a little annoying.

Mentioned the read/unread thing in a post of mine couple of months ago, definitely agreed.
The only current distinction I have, for what I’ve gone through, is liking my notifications. So the like has turned into an “acknowledge” feature for me
Not that I'm aware of, this is also an unanswered question on my side as a dev.
It could be added but right now read state is stored or not in a per app basis. Some push events for that to relays to keep track between sessions. Others store it locally. Some don’t track it at all.
I'd welcome adding this to the protocol, it would improve the Nostr experience for normies too ;-)
