Growing evidence suggests that there will not be a 'one size fits all' solution to #Bitcoin scaling but rather many complementary protocols, each addressing different challenges and markets, that ultimately help usher in hyperbitcoinization.

In the latest Layer-2 Roundup, we delve into second-layer protocols, highlight the importance of interoperability, and showcase the projects using these solutions together to tackle the challenges of adoption and the growing pains that come with it—as we saw in May's high-fee environment.

Wait till the banks find out how to make lightning channels with a fractional reserve on chain bitcoin.

😂😂😂🤣🤣

Wait till you find out how deathly afraid they are of on chain transparency

As if transparency matters for them! They need those cantillions.

I see no problem in people using fractional reserve lightning. When they want to buy something in real life (not fractional reserved) they would have to pay on chain bitcoin, so their financial games would only work internally between fractional reserve lightning channels.

Once they try to settle onchain the will need 10times of the fractional reserve lightning "Bitcoin" .

So basically the playfield is levelled for everyone and cantilliinaires only have am advantage when they only deal with other fractional reserved entities.

I hope you understand what I mean, as I am not a native english speaker.

Not seeing how that helps. Most users eyes' glaze over just trying to explain to them the the difference between on chain btc and lightning btc. Now you add to that another layer 2, atomic swaps, ln-btc on liquid vs on chain and they'll just say....nope think I'll stick to cash. Things need to get simpler. That just seems to help the BTC needs more than the normies.

This perspective is entirely baseless, if you have just never used an L2 dont speak to this as if you have. They are fantastic and leading the way to mass adoption as NO ONES layer one would EVER scale to meet. EVER.

Not sure what you're implying? If in response to me I use liquid and lightning btc layer 2 solutions. I'm a fan of lnbits lnurls in general. I also use several other crypto layer 2 chains for ethereum. I use my bitcoin not just hodl and I teach many face to face sessions on using btc.

I'm replying to the article which is essentially dealing with layer 2 compatability and as far as lightning on top of liquid.

Normies barely get moving on chain btc to lightning. They have trouble understanding a hot online lightning wallet vs on chain wallet with recovery phrase. I also don't think hiding the complexity like muun wallet does is a good thing. Others have written on that about muun.

As I said, adding complexity while beneficial for flexibility and the other benefits mentioned in the blog post is a good thing, it stays in the realm of btc nerds and not good for normies. Tell a normie that their payment to the website that only accepts on chain BTC has to settle through lightning, then liquid depeg or atomic swap, to BTC before it gets paid while accumulating fees along the way. Then tell them they should just have another wallet for on chain transactions. And they should use accordingly lightning, lightning on liquid, or on-chain depending on where they are sending so you want people to adopt bitcoin or just turn it into a niche product for nerds?

keep your autistic rants to yourself

Sure special K

If you have issues with how lightning is currently working everyone else does too, but what do you think complaining about it is going to do? On ethereum you have centralized rollups that are just oh so easy to get your funds stolen on because onboarding is so dumb easy. Maybe its good that people are not yoloing into lightning. The stark difference between the ETH ecosystem and BTC ecosystem is the awareness of vulnerabilities by the users. When there is no incentive to rug people there is actually no need for your uneducated friends to have a training wheels experience for the next generation of universal currency settlement. There is no use complaining especially not to me because I will out autism anyone any day of the week.

There are also wallets which integrate multiple layers in them. Eventually I think it will be inevitable to have 'unified' BTC balance, and walrte will handle maving the funds across the most efficient channel...

This is not that far away IMO, 1-2 years max.
