The only good thing about soaring food prices and taxes is that the business case of homesteading improves dramatically. Homesteading really is a brilliant inflation hedge.

I 2023 we will produce these items of highest quality for our own consumption. Approximately price based on danish retail for good quality organic products in brackets.

12 lambs and 4 sheep. All grass fed. (350 kg, 7000 usd)

4000 eggs (2000 usd)

10 geese (50 kg, 1500 usd)

400 bottles of apple cider (4000) usd)

This alone is 1200 usd per month. Completely tax free!

We also have potatoes and onions for 8-10 months. Overflow of these in season: Vegetables. Asparagus. Herbs. Tomatoes. Strawberries. Berries. Peaches, cherries, apples, pears.

Nuts. Mushrooms.

We invest surplus in the sharing economy in gifts and parties.

We use approximately 30 minutes most days. And now and then a weekend. We buy grain for the hens and very little hay, seed and power. No fuel! We have few other running costs.

The hourly wage is pretty high. Especially when taking taxes into consideration. It took 8 years to get this far. We both have jobs. Production numbers and value expected to both increase. We manage holistically and have a 7 generation planning horizon.

We eat like kings. We have one of the best kitchens on the island. You would need a very high salary to pay for our lifestyle.

This is how to build resilience in your wealth by diversifying into the 8 forms of capital.

By spending time producing ones own food many forms of capital are accurued simultaneously. Grazing sheep, produces meat, builds soil, enhances ones vitality. Working land forces a rootedness and connection to the seasons which builds spiritual capital in my opinion. While economically its starting to make more and more sense, growing food is worth multiples more than the dollar value of the produce the 8 forms of capital are taken into consideration.

Thank you! This is very inspiring. We're early in our journey so the daily work is far more than 1/2 hour per day. Not complaining - I love it! - but it's good to get a reminder that once we have our trees planted and our systems in place, we will likely have more time and bandwidth.

This is the way. A wise man once said “it’s ten years for everybody”.

I can confirm. Although it’s possible to do it faster if you focus your energy.

Keep your eyes on the price. Once you get the trees in the soil and soil building animal systems on track time works for you.

Very similar to hodling bitcoin. Enjoy your options increase year by year. While NPCs loose options day by day.

Wanna leave your job and scale up production? You have the natural capital multiply your effort.
