This is going to be my new go to when describing Nostr:

Nostr is the social glue that binds all of your apps together.

This helps to highlight the "Other Stuff" applications that are more than Twitter alternatives, even though we love those clients too.

Nice one!

I shared about Bitcoin and Nostr to a curious person who said "you post content and connect with people, and send each other money, for fun?". I replied yes with confidence.

Bitcoin was interesting to her though Nostr spark something else. I think it was the utility of Bitcoin as well as it's use of a storage of value.

Great way of “sticking” them together. Was just trying to explain Nostr to my mom earlier.

Once we have a couple Other Stuff apps that really take off, this will become more apparent.

“It’s a messaging protocol with no central server or algorithm”

Yes, but almost no one understands that 😅

I feel like they will if you break it down

A messaging protocol = like email, but more secure because of cryptographic signatures

No central server = your credentials (ie your “account”) works anywhere and everywhere

“Imagine one login to the entire internet”

“Imagine one address to find your friends anywhere on the internet”

“Imagine no one can take this login/address away or freeze it, it’s yours forever”

You mentioned cryptography. You lost most people 😭

Nostr is what MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Reddit and TicToc wanted to be until they were bought out by corporate interests. Nostr cannot be bought.

I’ll relay that description to others.

I just say it's where the coo coo crazies hangout.

Nostr is permissionless communication, the way Bitcoin is permissionless money.

The ideals of an open internet with all the unlimited functionality of digital technology, condensed to its simplest form.

Like Classroom notes being passed around but only read by whom you want.
