You are all missing the point, that if I am only adding 1 follower or fewer, per day, what is the experience like for most newbies?

The feedback you are getting from newbies is only from the 1%, or so, who stick around and are having a great time because gigantic npubs boosted their stuff, immediately, and they're adding followers at a record pace.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT THEY DID. ALL OF YOUR STUPID TIPS DON'T WORK; I DO THEM ALL, TO ZERO EFFECT.

IT IS EXCLUSIVELY AN ARTEFECT OF BEING RANDOMLY-SELECTED FOR A BOOST, BY SOMEONE WITH THOUSANDS OF FOLLOWERS. THERE IS A HANDFUL OF NPUBS EXCLUSIVELY DEFINING EVERYONE'S FEED.

On Twitter I used the follow button like a like button. I immediately followed after reading a based post because it had no effect on my timeline. But on nostr I will see everything so I have to better vet my follows or it will ruin my experience.
