Just as an update from ā€œnormie internetā€ for those who are Nostr-only:

Perhaps the most dangerous thing that is happening is the psychological manipulation of public opinion through siloing users with interest-or-outrage algorithms plus providing near zero protection against AI-driven bot armies in the comments, that give the illusion of consensus for extremism on both ā€œsidesā€. I read the JFK files, so I have my suspicions about who this benefits and it isn’t the American public.

The second most dangerous thing happening is the censorship. The content moderation (or ā€œcommunity guidelinesā€) on other social media apps has gotten absolutely insane. I have to speak in code to keep my videos up because even saying the word Trump or Palestinian, for example, will get me throttled or flagged. Saying Russia or Israel gets me bot-swarmed and then flagged. Smh. Political topics have become completely blacklisted (now that the election is over šŸ™„) and now conspiracy topics are also being shut down.

I’m attaching an image of my ā€œsaved videosā€ tab from TikTok so yall can just get a feeling for how many videos are being taken down.

I have garnered 100k+ followers, but an average video of mine gets about 2k views, so what’s even the point of having that large of an audience? I’m not monetized for views on tiktok because when I tried their monetization program, my views went down to 200. I suppose that’s ā€œlegal censorshipā€ of employees, so I quit taking their hush money.

But yeah if you’re looking around wondering what is happening to our culture… that’s what’s happening. We need a true public square, and that’s what I think NOSTR is helping to create.

Keep ya head on a swivel. Love yall. #grownostr

Genuinely asking—were you not on the internet during covid? Or did you happen to agree with the censorship going on then? Because it was a lot worse then than it is now.

My guess is that they let up in order to get people comfortable again & they are now masking it better with algorithms & more sophisticated bots.

Yeah I would guess that’s pretty accurate but it’s nothing compared to the stuff that was going on during Covid and the 2020 election cycle.

I would bet that this is going to be clamped down on again soon though.

No, it was not worse. It was only more obvious, nowadays it’s actually worse, because it seems on the outside that it’s not going on, plus many interesting people just left.

Yeah they’ve become craftier. It’s the illusion of free speech now.

Exactly. I keep my old X account and I sometimes look what’s the latest psyop. I strictly just look, never interact, no likes, no replies, no nothing. It is interesting to watch what the algorithm tries to show me without any meaningful feedback apart from scrolling the timeline and lingering on some posts (I even don’t click on videos to play). It’s still looking like shaping the current narratives and the ā€œbubblingā€ (emphasising one’s bubbles) is very pronounced. We might not get overt bans now, but shadowbanning and timeline shaping is much more sophisticated, and - because mostly covert - more dangerous then during covid. I’m not on Facebook for years and I have never used any other social networks in any meaningful way, but even on Twitter it’s very clear.

I don’t know if they ask for access to these types of things. But I would guess on some devices they’re tracking your eye movement too. So they can definitely tell what you’re looking at and paying attention to.

Covid censorship was more intense. It wasn’t meant to last.

It was meant to get you to accept this level of censorship. They’ll ramp it back up soon though for Israel. No doubt. It’s not meant to last again though. They’ll give us a consolation prize and we will have to be fine with that for five years until they ramp it up again.

Not with web browsers. I still don’t agree that it was more intense. It certainly FELT more intense, but I believe that the covert version we have now is actually harder. It’s no longer about deplatforming, but about limiting reach very aggressively, so most of even slightly controversial accounts are effectively talking to a wall.

What political leanings do these types of channels have?

I believe it’s actually both extremes, but as euroatlantic academia is now pretty left-locked, I think that overall leftist politics is universally deemed a bit more acceptable on social media.

So you’re seeing more left leaning channels being shadowbanned or talking to walls or whatever?

No, more right leaning channels are limited, because expressing left leaning views is deemed more acceptable.

Yeah I think that’s pretty accurate. I think this is a hard thing to quantify and or qualify. Especially coming from a position of not wanting anything (for adults) to be censored. It all kinda seems pretty binary to me when push comes to shove.

That’s been my experience too, although there has also been a hard line drawn for anti-war lefties like Hasan and myself. Anyone who isn’t a ā€œlibā€. The best old-Twitter metaphor I could make for it is that the mainstream social media are all the KHive now lol

Beware some scripts for websites can connect to local host that is being used Facebook. Only some browsers block local host.

Just fucking say it:

IT’S THE JEWS.

Juice

Don’t beat around the bush

WASPy fuckers aren't helping the common man out, either.

You must be brown because your reply is retarded.

ā€œThe common man,ā€ blacks and browns get 750k and 250k over their lifetimes.

They’re being helped out plenty and acting as an anchor around the white man’s neck.

Either way, she mentioned the JFK assassination, which was the jews, retard.

The white man needed to stay in Europe, but they went to the third world to extract resources and subsequently are now being over run

Start taking responsibility for their actions, and get out. Europe needs them more than ever šŸ˜‚ but they're getting their Dick's sucked in gogo bars in Bangkok šŸ˜‚

I’m not sure what a WASP is in this context, but for the record my JFK reference was about the fucking CIA! šŸ‘»

If you think ā€œthe CIAā€ killed JFK then you didn’t actually look into the files.

Jack Ruby… no, Jack Rubenstein. Look into his jewish mob ties.

The recently unredacted files specifically mention Israel.

Take a look, and don’t use GPT, it will lie to you about anything jew related. (Surprise, ALTMAN doesn’t want you to get accurate information.)

White Anglo Saxon Protestant, New England elite that have historically dominated American politics and the CIA.

It's always the juice

Nostr is truly the only way out šŸ™ŒšŸ½

Thanks for the view from abnormieland!

False consensus thinking driven by bot social pressure is something I worry about a lot.

The Asch Conformity Line Experiment is one of the lenses I have view everything through.

A lot of things before Tiktok made western humanity terrible, but now it looks like they're swirling the drain anyway. When they threatened to kill it off, I thought maybe we'd have hope for society. Oh well. It was a nice thought for ten minutes.

Started running an experiment with my friend to share into a message group the things the algo feeds us to incite anger. We are of opposite political beliefs. The algo absolutely feeds anger based on what it believes to be your political stance.

The problem is far too many people view the world through the lens of their social media algos. It warps the view of reality.

Algorithm free since 2023 🫔

You the real MVP…

Are we writing poetry? šŸ˜†

I don’t know, maybe
