Do not listen to the "bitcoiners" that say 3rd party custodial services are ok for scaling Bitcoin.
Discussion
Such an obvious trap
It's not that obvious. People on nostr love custodial solutions. It lets them skim off the top.
"custodial" says it all IMO. I just let people believe that it's a working solution nowadays.
It's a weird mix. Developers are paving the way for Bitcoin and lightning. They aren't being paid in most cases, so I let it slide. Especially with the acknowledgement that most can't run their own setups. Right now, setup isn't for your average person.
Most cant manage their own spending let alone their own nodes. 🤷♂️
You would think after like 7 years they would have most of the kinks worked out of the lighting network right?
I haven't had many issues as long as I'm connected to a large enough node. Zeus is on the right track in expanding their business as an LSP, and providing everyone with self sovereignty.
The Zeus wallet still feels foreign to most, but man are they doing all the right things. Such a great project.
Zeus is the cream of the crop
I don't think I would ever consider running a Lightning node again. The liquidity to open a channel makes the whole idea prohibitive to basically everyone, and that's just one of many reasons I wouldn't consider it again.
I just can't see how it could *ever* be for the average person unless it is custodial.
😅 That's exactly why I have no beef with the custodians... Fundamentally, I disagree, but in practice, there's no other way and devs deserved to earn.
Corporatation/Trusted 3rd parties/Federations is the only way you can scale Bitcoin to billions of people
Abstracting away friction is the only way mass adoption will happen
The trade off is self sovereignty
They aren't but it is going to happen sadly.
I agree, but at the same time, I don't think its completely black/white. Me sending you 10sats from walletofsatoshi right now is an "ok" solution for this purpose, its not ideal, but its "ok"-ish.
