Thinking about Amoto for the Dollar equivalent in #Bitcoin.

I love Sats and I'm used to working with 1,000,000 Sats at a time.

But it's kinda like using a wad of one dollar bills in your pocket to look like you have a lot of money.

We'd laugh at people if they'd say something like, I just deposited 250,000 Cents into the bank instead of $2,500 dollars. My noncoiner friends I'm sure do that to me when I say I just bought another Million Sats. 😁

We use Sats from Satoshi, why not use a derivative of Nakamoto as the Dollar equivalent?

I like The Amoto but I'm sure others would like Naks.

The Dollar

The Peso

The Pound

The Euro

The Franc

The Amoto or The Nak

105,435 Cents

1054 Dollars and 35 Cents

105,435 Sats

1054 Amotos and 35 Sats

105,435 Sats

1054 Naks and 35 Sats

I always see people suggesting Bits but I think using Nakamoto as the base might be better.

Bits is a computer term that doesn't quite fit.

The Bitcoin Dollar would also work.

We already use without confusion:

The Canadian Dollar C$

The Australian Dollar AU$

The Cayman Islands Dollar CI$

The Barbadian Dollar BB$

a bit as currency denomination predates computers anyway

a bit is 12.5 cents USD

as in

"SHAVE-and-a-HAIRcut, 2 BITS!" (i.e., 25 cents)"

Hadn't thought of that one. 👏

Sats are enough

For me and you both.
