Large price fluctuations are not the key to a store of value but roughly equivalent purchase power by quantity. Gold has that property over a long period for instance. I did notice that during the big price drop of BTC a couple of years back (or less) to nearly $16K XMR didn't drop to below $130 for very long which is a far less deep percentage drop. I tend to keep my bank in XMR and convert some to BTC at comparative lows for speculation and sell some when it goes up enough to increase my kitty. Or simply use some to exchange for goods or gift cards giving me a substantial effective price cut on whatever I eventually buy. Some I keep longer term to take advantage of major swing to upside. So I tread BTC as only crypto tradeable for some things and as a speculation instrument. But most of my bank is in XMR.

Well said too
