Did anyone question why insurance companies stopped pushing the OBDII and phone monitors (app required location active)? I guess they realized they had enough data. I known people in insurance that use this data to make decisions. They buy it from a 3rd party aggregation company so the insurance company doesn't really know where the data is collected from. When a customer applies for a new coverage the report is requested automatically and it's a humans job to review their risk score and determine their eligibility and premium, sort of. I heard rumors the underwriting staff was mostly getting replaced with automation so it's probably not a human anymore. They do have legal obligations when reviewing that risk score depending on the state. Most historically liberal leaning states usually have "better" legislation for reviews and guidelines for denial etc. So the risk report isn't usually allowed to sway the decision too much.

That said, I'm sure insurance companies will go back to taxing customers that refuse the OBDII monitors like the used to.
