Nature. 💚 being able to connect with our beautiful creator, is freedom 🙏🏼
ahh it is freeing to take a deep breath next to greenery ❤️
Food. I'm trying to fix my body by eating better.
Linux.
Many other things that are all related to freedom tech and FOSS.
Working towards energy independence via solar and various other generation and storage methodologies.
Paying off debt, since that's just stupid to carry forward IMO.
energy independence is a pretty cool point! it definitely made me think of how much i depend on energy sources to be available instead of producing my own. could u give more examples to look into?
Reduce your usage just by being more conscious.
If you have the space, you can start small with a few panels, a cheap charge controller, and either a small power station or battery with an inverter or converter. For most people, the biggest power usages are heating and cooling. There are ways to improve efficiency of both of those or use design (if building new) to reduce the energy inputs required to heat and cool your space.
There's a lot to this, and I'm no where near being independent yet, but, that's OK since I'm moving towards the goal.
Firearms are up there on my list.
Yes, but... Training is better than just owning.
i don’t own any guns yet, but i kill it at the gun range 💪🏽😼
Excellent!
Have you ever shot while moving?
oo noo, that sounds like a fun challenge. have u?
A bit. Not enough. I'm remedying that this year by starting to participate in various shooting competitions.
I do IPSC over here in Europe :) So much fun
I will work my way up to that.
Pistols are my worst, as I have the least experience with them. But... I'm getting better. Last Saturday I shot a Steel Plate Challenge match. My last section I had really decent times, especially for using my small carry pistol.
Meditation and Hindu scriptures are ancient freedom technologies that teach you how to be free in mind, body, and spirit.
Besides that, I like self hosting anything I can. I have a Nas with a few drives as my cloud storage, Jellyfin for streaming, local mp3 music, radicale, vaultwarden, gitlab, pihole, ffmpeg (surprisingly).
Don’t have much to contribute to this one but I am interested in some of the responses. I think I’ve won the lottery in terms of being born in a place & time where there is very little real oppression in my life and I’m generally free to do as I please. The issues we have with central banking have always been a standout issue for me - but this issue pales in comparison to the real oppression most people have been subject to across history.
Lots of responses here that have to do with spirituality & nature - if anything, I feel like those things are most important to me as well. The other side to “freedom” is the weight and responsibility to bear it. Someone who has freedom and no self-control is still a slave to their own impulses.
Really important to meditate, touch grass, self-reflect and course correct if you want to maximize the gifts of freedom that we have inherited
My 2 sats anyways
"Not to do what you feel like doing is freedom."
This quote is on the plaque I got after my last year at a Hindu Sunday school. Self-control and discipline are ironically some of the highest forms of freedom.
Yeah it makes a lot of sense. More people suffer now to obesity related health issues than starvation for example. Discipline is a muscle that needs to be exercised
I think a great deal of suffering could be eliminated if people turned inward. “You aren’t stuck in traffic, you are the traffic” sort of thing
thank you for your 2 sats shogun! :) i like how you brought mental freedom into the conversation. we can think of an ideal world where we can do as we please, but if we live for pleasure, we might as well be prisoners of whatever addictions that might come from that pleasure. it’s ok to seek ‘good feelings’ as long as those are not separating us from other forms of growth
Community where the people know your faults but love you anyway. You know they will always have your back and help you see things you are blind to.
that constructive love does hit the spot
firearms of course, healthy soil and entrepreneurial skillsets are all baseline, physical world freedom tech imo

Linux for desktop. Windows and Mac have basically turned into spyware. There are many Linux distributions that are super easy to run such as Linux Mint, Ubuntu, PopOS. Can even buy a great System76 computer with Linux preloaded to go on super easy mode.
i want to install linux in my computer but i’m scared she’s gonna die lol
Depending on what your computer is, you can get an inexpensive extra hard drive and install to that. If you don’t like it, just put the old hard drive back in.
This is a good suggestion.
Let us know if you have any questions about Linux. I'm sure there's quite a few people on nostr who can answer them.
I highly recommend Linux. I have been using it for nearly 20 years.
If you are concerned about privacy (which is a good idea if you are using crypto-currency), then something other than a Microsoft or Apple operating system is a step in the right direction.

Hunting feels like it should be on here. Wilderness, perseverance, grit, preparation, adventure all wrapped into one activity.
I currently have no experience and none of my immediate family hunts, but it seems very challenging and rewarding.
I practice freedom by making the prison wardens work

lol “anti-bullying” protection
what video did you post that caused a violation? :o

noo i didn’t need to see the haters. i wanted to see the video haha
my favorite comment is the “caca face” and “I DON’T LIKE YOU”— reminds me of middle school
It’s most videos : (
aw why don’t you post here? i’d check out your videos but i don’t do tiktok
The culture here is pretty much the opposite of TikTok and in my experience it’s way less volume but way higher impact per interaction. Like I have Philip defranco following me on TikTok but we don’t really connect and here it’s really to get involved with anyone with just genuine interest in trying to make the internet better.
*really easy
idk who phillip is but i’m sure he’s cool 😭
i think it’s important for you to consider, are you seeking volume or impact?
He’s this OG YouTuber that I used to watch growing up so it was kinda cool to see that he valued what I thought about things, in particular with edtech and AI. And volume used to be my priority but after learning a lot of stuff after it’s really just usability and conversions. You have to be a bit of an actor for the conversions part honestly so I’m kind of disconnected from the work until I get in that mindset more
Self running FOSS software alternative instead of using paid or proprietary ones.
I've been self hosting Ghost (Substack Alternative) for a few years now and love it!
could you please link? :)
