Just finished Mandibles… excellent and extremely disturbing at the same time.

Which should I read next?

The Three-Body Problem. They made a great tv show out of it too.

I haven't read 2 of these, but the Three Body Problem is a vividly written and interesting sci fi novel. The language is exceptionally colorful and striking, probably because it's translated but I would definitely recommend it.

How depressing is it? The Mandibles put me in a dark place for a couple of days 😞 I liked it but it was heavy.

I tried to read the mandibles and couldn't get through it. It's too grim. Prescient, from the few chapters I did read, but godamn it's dark.

Three Body Problem is not a depressing read IMO although there are sections that are dark, like snippets of the cultural revolution.

I thought Three Body Problem was depressing 😂 especially the end.

Ken Liu is a great translator and author in his own right.

Hm. It's been a while since I read it. My memory is not to be trusted it seems 😂

Eh I might just be more easily depressed by books 😂

Stay away from the Thomas Covenant books at all costs 😬🤣

All the info is already known

If you’re looking for good but disturbing, maybe Perdido Street Station by China Miéville. At least that’s how I remember it from years ago.

Sorry I just clicked the image and realize you wanted a selection from that.

Just the 3 body problem? Or the whole trilogy? 2nd and 3rd books are way more interesting
