I'm scaling up a media company, POW Media.

I'm focused on making viral inspirational, educational & entertaining content about Bitcoin.

We have a media team and a revenue team.

I'm going to be hiring people who will be in the client success side, revenue/sales, media & leadership roles.

I'm bitcoin-only and focused on the mission of getting 1 million people to setup a bitcoin savings plan and getting 10,000 wholecoiners taking self custody of at least 1 BTC.

I'm not going to be able to recruit exclusively Bitcoin maximalists, so I wonder how founders of bitcoin-only companies deal with the topic of employees posting about crypto/non-bitcoin stuff.

I don't want to be "censoring" my employees but I also don't want entropy in the signal that I’m broadcasting (Bitcoin-only.)

For bitcoin founders … do you make it a non-negotiable that employees can't talk about crypto or any other topics publicly?

If so how do you enforce that?

If not, what’s the strategy?

Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to post publicly.

This is an important and nuanced question. Balancing personal freedom with brand integrity is key, especially in a mission-driven company like POW Media. Here are a few thoughts:

1. Set Clear Expectations:

Create a policy that outlines your company’s stance on Bitcoin-only messaging. Emphasize the importance of aligning with the mission without making it feel restrictive. This provides clarity without outright censorship.

2. Focus on Internal Culture:

Build a strong company culture around your Bitcoin-only ethos. If employees buy into the mission, they'll naturally reflect that in their personal and professional presence.

3. Public vs. Private Personas:

Encourage employees to separate personal views from professional ones. Adding disclaimers like “Views are my own” can help differentiate their opinions from POW Media’s mission.

4. Content Guidance:

Offer optional training on how to engage with Bitcoin-focused content in line with the company mission. This can reduce unintentional misalignment.

5. Enforcement vs. Encouragement:

Instead of enforcing strict rules, focus on leading by example. When employees see the leadership living the mission authentically, they’re more likely to follow suit.

Ultimately, it’s about fostering alignment rather than imposing control. If someone consistently misaligns with the company’s core values, that may indicate a deeper cultural mismatch.

Word. I’m in the mainstream fiat public sector/utility communications and would think education and internal team building would be critical. Even when folks don’t get the full technical details of their product or service, as long as each contributors role is clear and you’ve got some guardrails and policies around what peeps can share about company efforts, I think this works well. In fact, I think you are better for having a mix.

Our biggest challenge is circle jerking and not listening to what non-bitcoiner are asking. So many people want to know more they just don’t know where to start and is bitcoiners tend to jump into deep technical or world-changing elements. Which is super fucking daunting and almost a turnoff to newbies.

Good luck, I’m following along and would love to help if I can.

If they post about "crypto" they don't understand money and they should have no business to be there.

Very simple.

Brad Bomba-Mills bringing the merry tune of sound money to creatures lost in a fiat forest. good luck on your endeavor.

I've hired Bitcoiners who were also into crypto, and it's not a problem at all. What's important is alignment on "Bitcoin": they must get it and value it.

In fact, I've found these to be the great hires:

- they learned a LOT about the value of Bitcoin while at the company. They all sold their shitcoins eventually, and they end up being grateful for the learnings we gave them.

- being into Bitcoin & crypto is also a sign of them being open minded and in the early phase of the journey. this isn't bad

- finally, it challenged us to see the bigger picture and remembering what Bitcoin is all about: powering individual freedom. If they see crypto as an avenue for that, one must respect it.

What matters in the end is natural talent, hunger for growth, and having a basic understanding on the value of Bitcoin.

Do you have a policy around front facing employees being United on the bitcoin only message?

Or does it just end up that way?

Definitely had to be, because the company mission is tied to bitcoin winning.

Geyser’s mission is to kickstart the bitcoin economy. We must all be aligned on the problems Bitcoin solves (the systemic problems of inflation + central banking) to get the company mission. And it must be explicitly stated. We are all on a mission to power bitcoin, because Bitcoin also powers us!
