you don't technically have to do that. and probably shouldn't. use an extension like alby or nos2x. they exist for both firefox and chrome.
Yeah, it felt weird to do that, TBH. I'm using Alby, but the first time, it said that my private key was empty, and I couldn't sign messages - that's why I put my private key. But then I logged out, and it seems I can log in again using only Alby's pub key. Thanks.
I can't comment on Alby as I've never used it, but the nos2x extension works great for me thus far.
Alby seems to be working great for me
Alby got me due to:
- being a browser integrated lightning wallet
- simultaneously handling my keys
- its open source so it should be rug--pull safe
the lightning wallet integration sounds like it's top notch, but i already use Zeus for my LN
QUESTION:
Would you like your NostrPlebs.com NIP-05 ID to also be a Lightning Address / wallet for payments? One ID for both purposes?
makes sense, I'm still a LN toddler, still many days of growing here.

If you have your own domain, use that! My service is mostly for people that don't have a domain, server, easy way to do it, or just want to rock a nostrplebs.com NIP-05 ID to be part of the community.

This is actually something that I was discussing. I don't think a paid relay right now is something I'd want to offer, but in the near future, it sounds like it's something that we could offer people. A paid relay that's reliable, fast, has good uptime and backups, maybe spam prevention if this is possible, etc. When you register for nostrplebs.com you get a variety of services.

I don't want to do anything that the community would not want or frown upon so all of this has to be handled lightly. But I do think bundling these types of services together would make sense.
What are your thoughts?
I don't think anyone would want to be exclusively in a paid relay because they might miss out on everything else.
I think clients should improve to the point where you can easily filter notes by relays or have a per relay feed.
Unless there is a way for that relay to probe information from other relays and aggregate the data it deems relevant

Seems to me the original vision is that relays should be done and all the content logic should be on clients.
I was thinking the same. How can we give value to a relay and stand out from the rest and turn this into a profitable business.
Because on the long term, it might become huge and costly to run a relay.
Would it be possible to only charge over a certain threshold? Giving free tiers to everyone, and spammers and influencers could pay for consumption.
That may be possible. I saw that #[6] was working on an update that would allow lightning invoices have a portion paid got to relay owners or something along those lines. Either way, we'll need to get creative on this front.
