Explain to them that WoS still works, but they'll no longer get updates in the USA and the future is uncertain because of that. Help migrate them to Phoenix, Breez, nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg or nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 so that they can be in control of their sats.

What about Muun?
Muun isn't technically a self custody Lightning wallet. Can you do Lightning? Yes, but fees can be as high as on-chain fees sometimes.
Muun is self custody. It is not real lightning though.
That being said, itâs my preferred onboarding wallet because receive fees are zero despite not being proper Lightning, and they do get to self custody. I tell them that they will need to understand the base blockchain layer and the true Lightning layer if they really want to learn more, but this is just a starting point. I havenât found any other balance Iâve been comfortable with for onboarding.
Which of these work with Nostr and Damus?
If you want to receive Zaps, nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 is the only one that supports receiving them via Lightning address. If you want to send Zaps, all will work, but nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg is the only one that supports Nostr Wallet Connect for easy one tap to zap.

People have to understand, Lightning is hard. Itâs really hard. Itâs difficult to setup, itâs difficult to manage, it breaks easily, and it rarely works like you want it to without a lot of effort, or you have to already be a guru or a super user.
Iâm a technically illiterate pleb whose been a bitcoiner for about 4-5 years now. I run my own node, I self-custody in cold storage⌠but I still canât use Lightning effectively. Shit is fucking difficult and annoying.

good luck using those alternatives while traveling and dealing with pleb street merchants who dont speak your language or know if they are using lightning or on chain most of the time.
