I feel like I need to get started with #meshtastic What hardware and where do I buy?

If you want pre-made stuff, the LilyGo Echo T is a decent little device.
It can also be flashed for reticulum if you want to play with that as well.
Depends a little bit on what features you want. I personally like the RAK Wireless gear as it is very flexible and is very power efficient:

I also think the Likygo T-Beam is a good starting option as it is pretty much ready to go - just add a battery and buy or 3d print a case for it:
This works. I just want to buy something and play around with it to start the learning journey
The main thing to be aware of with any of them is ordering the version with the correct frequency for the region you are using it in. Here in Australia and I think in the U.S. it is 915Mhz, I believe Europe uses 868Mhz.
This is the 1-stop-shop for Meshtastic.

That one does all the things you will probably ever need, and it's in a nice case with a big battery. I have 3 now. π
Here's a cheaper option, also. If you do any more than dabble in it once, you'll want the better radio, though.
