Zoroastrian π€
Oh wow this is so interesting. First time hearing of it! Iβm going down the rabbit hole now and it seems that it may have influenced the big three Abrahamic religions as well as other major belief systems. Very cool
Itβs very unknown, thank you for looking into it.
Freddie mercury is Parsi and was also Zoroastrian
Not unknown to anyone familiar with Nietzsche, "Thus Spoke Zarathustra"
Yeah, but everyone Iβve encountered in my life other than teachers or family, never know what it is.
Wow wow wow Iβm absolutely fascinated by this. Itβs definitely a detail that has been glossed over when speaking of him. Long live #FreddieMercury
Freddie was my all time favorite singer. Dude was amazing.
grew up christian but never felt connected. The unanswered questions of the universe feel like there is something. Iβm way more fascinated by life and space and how all of it works
I hear you on this. It is quite interesting right? The universe is so vast, itβs like how can you not have questions? How can you not be fascinated by it all? Just amazing
The last time I thought about this very very deeply was many years ago when I was lying on the beach in the middle of the night in Costa Rica. It was pitch black and you could see so many stars and planets too! Felt like I could see so so so far into the galaxy. And that is something that I never really got to witness living in New York because thereβs too many lights.
I canβt wait to go back
I remember being a kids and seeing the stars like that. You like fall into, goes on forever and forever. That infinity docuemtnry on Netflix was good watch.

Yes exactly! Oh ok cool, I gotta check it out
And thank you! This site is very helpful
I'm a Buddhist but that's not a belief. It's a practice, and it comes from experience rather than faith.
Intellectually, everything I know I take it as a concept that is in some sense limiting my perception of the world by labeling it. You can't label the totality, because every time you label, you are doing so dualisticaly. It is this, not that. I'm interested in that which lies beyond all.
Practically i meditate as regularly as I can and that has been the single biggest life enhancing habit I've ever done.
Very much connecting with this
This is fascinating. I really love and appreciate the way you articulated this.
I need to meditate more.
Do you have any tips or advice for being able to quiet your mind to meditate effectively? My mind is always racing, so I have a hard time sitting still for to do it for more than like 5 minutes π

Couldn't have said it better
usually theistic agnostic, with paganistic tendencies, but unfortunately not a practicioner of anything (though I would like to)
Ah, I like how you categorized this. Why would you like to be a practitioner of something? Is there a particular thing that youβre leaning towards?
because Religion, from the concept, religare, it is about acting, connecting with the world and with the divinity(independent of what that exactly means)
a religion that is only a belief system without practices feels inherently incomplete... beliefs are important, but what do you do for the world? What do you do for your people? What do you do for the other people? What do you do for yourself? What do you do to strengthen your connecting with the divinity?
as to what I lean towards... I always wanted to practice more witchcraft. I am just too focused on staying alive in this moment of my life π
Hodge podge really. I grew up Christian but donβt consider myself one anymore. However, Iβll read a chapter from Proverbs or Psalms every now and then. I keep an ancestor altar, meditate daily, and pray nightly.
I love this. I think hodge podge is lowkey the best way to approach things because essentially you find different aspects of different belief systems that might resonate with you and make them your own
This sounds really healthy and balanced - conducive to positive reflection, healthy uncertainty, and persistent learning and examination. Lovely.
Agnostic. My parents were divorced. Father took us to Assembly of God (speaking in tongues ect) and my mom was fundamental Baptist (super strict, couldn't wear shorts, go to public swimming pools, play upside on Sundays ect))
They were both super judgemental....oh and they loathed each others...
15 years of that will drive anyone to being Agnostic. π
Bahahaha you and I had rather similar upbringings! There is certainly a direct relationship between hyper religious parents and agnostic/ atheist children π
I follow Christ (the eternal way/Tao). Disillusioned with evangelicalism, then nihilism. My practice is Anglican and beliefs mostly Orthodox which embrace both reason and mystery.
This is so specific, I love it. Thanks for all the descriptors. May I ask if you are in a relationship and if so, was it easy to find someone who resonated with your niche set of beliefs?
Atheist
