I’m struggling to compress a file small enough to upload to Nostr.

I tried exporting it as 540p and putting it into an online video compressor and then trying to upload to Nostr.build but it struggs.

Any ideas?

No worries if not!

Do you have a paid NB account or are you just using the free version?

Free! Does the paid version include larger file sizes? I’m on the website right now and can’t see how to become a premium member… is this a secret cult?

Thanks!! Sorry for more basic questions.

Does this mean that I can upload videos of say 2GB to Nostr build and I will be able to upload them here sooner?

Besides your account size, there is no limit to the video/media use load size. I would still recommend using something like Handbrake to reduce video size if they are very large, just for ease of playback.

If you use Damus, Amethyst, Nostrudel, coracle, or Snort, it automatically connects to your nostr.build account, so all uploads will be added to your acct.

* use load = upload

It’s right in the top center of the page,

“Get Premium Accounts Here’, there is also a ‘Sign Up’ link in the upper right corner, and a Buy Account in the footer, where else should we put it?

But it doesn’t tell you why to get one or what it costs until you click. It should appear in the center of the screen, in a large box below the error message.

Agree!

I’ll add it to the error message, great idea.

If an upload fails the website should immediately try to upsell you to the paid version.

Do I really need to give you guys a lesson in Marketing 101? 🤣

We have a ‘Buy Account’ button all over the website, but yeah, good idea to add it to the ‘upload has failed’ message 🤙

When I take videos from Twitter I use this website: https://twittervid.com and it compresses it according to the video size, it helped once because the video was 9 mins long but my videos for the most part are 2/5/7mb size u don’t need to compress it. I hope that helps in part

Did you try flare.pub?

Nooo I hadn’t heard of it. Thanks!

Wait how do I use this?

I found a few, hope it helps:

I think video (and probably photos as Nostr grows) will ultimately require more centralized (due to cost) providers. Or at least some sort of aggregate funding which would still be centralized.

The current media providers are centralized
